Diversity Is An Obstacle, Not A Strength

I can think of many examples of how diversity has led to obstacles that America has overcome. However, I am unaware of how diversity, in and of itself, has been a strength.

In the beginning of American History there were lots of clashes between different denominations of Christians. America needed to unite to gain independence and freedom from the British. Our forefathers united around their common (not diverse) belief that our freedoms and inalienable rights are granted by God, not government. We overcame all obstacles with our common beliefs as expressed in the Declaration of Independence and the US constitution.

America's slogan that is stamped on all coins states: "E Pluribus Unum" which means "out of many, one". This means that we get our strength from the unique American culture, not from diversity.

The cultural differences between the North and South led to the bloodiest war that this nation has ever endured. It cost 750,000 lives to overcome this obstacle and to reunite America.

Diversity of race led to Jim Crow laws, discrimination and cruelty against blacks by whites. We overcame this obstacle with the civil rights movement.

In today's America, businesses and government spend billions of dollars on diversity sensitivity programs. These programs are intended to overcome obstacles caused by racial, religious, sexual and cultural diversity.

Congress has enacted hate-crime laws in an effort to reduce crimes that are caused by diverse groups clashing with each-other.

The previous examples prove that overcoming obstacles caused by diversity has cost America hundreds of thousands of lives and billions of dollars. It has all been done for just causes and America could not have survived if we had not overcome these obstacles. However, these Obstacles are the result of diversity. If there was no diversity, these obstacles would not have existed. Diversity has been an obstacle, not a strength.

On the other hand I can think of no example of how diversity, in and of itself, has benefited America besides adding variety to food, music, and the arts from diverse cultures. Of course people from diverse racial, cultural religious and sexual backgrounds have contributed greatly to America, but this is not due to their diversity, this is due to their individual achievements. Humans of all races, religions, cultures and sexes have the same potential for greatness. No one group has more potential than another. Mixing groups together does not add to, nor diminish each individuals potential for greatness. Humans of all races, religions and cultures are equally endowed by God.

It is horrible when diverse groups can't live, work, play and worship together. Many obstacles had to be overcome to achieve tolerance in America. Tolerance is a very, very good thing, but it is only required BECAUSE of diversity. Diversity, in and of itself is not a virtue. Tolerance IS a virtue.

Most liberals preach that "diversity is our strength". That statement is a lie. Tolerance is a strength, diversity is an obstacle. Many cultures have achieved greatness without diversity. Japan, Finland and Switzerland are three examples.

Diversity is a challenge that America has overcome. America has not become great because of diversity, we have become great in spite of diversity.

Top Song on the Hit Parade

I was recently upset when I learned that the number one pop song for the past 8 weeks is called "I Kissed a Girl and I liked it". The shocking part is that this song is sung by a girl. This song normalizes, celebrates and encourages experimentation with homosexuality by teenage girls. These are a few lines in the song: "I kissed a girl and I liked it, The taste of her cherry chapstick, I kissed a girl just to try it ". The entire song lyrics are copied below.

Many young people will say that this is just a song and that the lyrics don't have any significant meaning to them. Just like they say the lyrics of vile rap songs are funny, cool or just plain "art", they also consider this song so cool that they made it number one on the hit parade. But if songs have no meaning, why are so many of us emotional when we hear the national anthem? Why do Madison Avenue advertising firms use songs successfully to promote products. Why do most young people emulate popular musicians in dress, attitude and language? This song promotes experimentation with homosexuality, which is abnormal and unhealthy. As a result, today's youth are blurring the line and unable to distinguish between normal and abnormal, healthy and unhealthy and right and wrong behavior. What do you think?

Liberal Bullying Silences the Majority

I came across this excellent article from the Washington times. It is an editorial about the liberal bias in Hollywood. The article is called: "Mr. Spielberg, Tear Down This Wall", By Andrew Breitbart. Please take the time to read it and let me know what you think.

This article states that there is "political bullying" in Hollywood. Breitbart wrote, "And because of bullying (or what Democrats would call blacklisting or “political discrimination” if the shoe were on the other foot), Hollywood has become a one-party town." Breitbart goes on to say: "But while it is true that the ratio of Obama to McCain bumper stickers in West L.A. is about 250 to 1, there are indeed untold closet Republicans in the entertainment industry who dare not advertise their beliefs in movie studio parking lots. (Unfortunately, car keying is a tactic wielded liberally by the self-described “tolerant.”) ".

The article also writes about the few openly conservative players in Hollywood. The only one who I am familiar with is Dennis Miller. Dennis Miller is a famous comedian who turned conservative after 9/11. Dennis Miller now has a radio talk show and is also a frequent guest on "the O'Reilly Factor" on Fox news. I have heard Miller talk about how open conservatives in Hollywood are ostracized and have a hard time finding work and invitations to social events. He says that the liberals in Hollywood are clearly intolerant of opposing political view-points. He says that conservatives must remain "in the closet", lest they lose their chance of getting lucrative contracts and advancing in Hollywood.

I have also noticed a similar type of bullying on the Yahoo Answers web-site. This is a web-site where you can ask and answer questions on a variety of topics in any of about a hundred categories. I usually participate in the categories of politics & elections, religion & spirituality, lesbian, gay, bi-sexual &transgendered and global warming. I have had scores of questions and answers reported and removed and over a dozen accounts suspended. The reasons are usually because I am critical of "gay pride", atheism, and Barack Obama. My questions and answers are usually thoughtful, reasoned, non confrontational and non insulting. However, because of my opinion, my answers often get reported and removed and eventually my account gets suspended. Apparently, I am not the only one that this is happening to, because I notice that a majority of people who post in the "religion and spirituality" category are atheists, witches, and followers of pagan religions. Often they make very hateful, intolerant comments about Christianity. I believe that Christians are being intimidated by having their questions and answers removed and their accounts suspended, just like me. After a while they just give up, and the atheists have taken over. The same thing happens in the "LGBT" category if you are critical of celebrating homosexuality, and in the political & elections category if you are critical of Obama. So far, the global warming enthusiasts seem to be more tolerant of differing views.

I mention this bullying on Yahoo Answers, because I think it is exemplary of what is happening in Hollywood and on college campuses. For example, you see many hateful bumper stickers on automobiles mocking and insulting President Bush, but you rarely, if ever, see bumper stickers praising Bush or mocking Obama. People dare not affix conservative bumper stickers, lest they risk vandalism to their car, yet liberals often go ever-the-top, calling for Bush's conviction and impeachment and they are widely accepted. Students at a Georgia university, recently protested to have Supreme Court Justice, Clarance Thomas, dis invited from speaking at their commencement hearing. It has been reported that over 80% of all speakers invited to speak at University commencement ceremonies this year were liberal. Often conservative speakers on University campuses get booed, heckled or bullied out of appearing in the first place.

Just like the article in the Washington Times says, I find liberals, homosexuals and atheists to be very intolerant of opposing views. There are many examples of liberals who are actively stifling free speech when they disagree. I have written about some of these in previous articles. This is a far cry from the liberals of the 60s who said " I may disagree with what you say, but I defend your right to say it". Ben Stein's movie "Expelled, No Intelligence Allowed" is another example of liberal bullying by the Universities.

Most people, especially conservatives, just want to get on with their work or their studies without getting hassled. They maintain a low profile, so as not to attract the ire of pacifists, gay activists, atheists, and believers in man-made global warming. Those activist groups may be small in number, but they are quite vocal, offensive, intimidating, aggressive and "in-your-face". Most sane people don't want to get into a confrontation with these "loons", so they either join them or keep their mouth shut. As a result, it appears that everyone is on their side and more people join them, just to fit in with what seems to be popular on college campuses, Hollywood and in most major cities".

Liberals often are opposed to anything that judges or restrains people's behavior. Of course they don't see the irony, that good judgment, self restraint and discipline, offers us the most freedom, prosperity and peace. I have seen the most bizarre and negative behavior condoned by liberals. Celebrating the gangster culture and hip-hop music is a good example. Anything unusual and weird is celebrated and considered hip and cool, in Hollywood and on most of today's college campuses, in the name of art, self-expression and diversity. At the same time, many of the more extreme liberals mock Christianity, the traditional family and even our country.

What Andrew Breitbart writes about in his article is a microcosm of what is now happening on university campuses, major cities, and on the major websites (Google & Yahoo). It seems that a vocal and intimidating minority is bullying the majority to join their cause or just shut up. I am disappointed to see such limited opposition to these misguided bullies that are succeeding in indoctrinating much of the American public and silencing the rest.

Illegal Immigration is Harmful on Many Levels

Illegal immigration is a huge problem for America, as well as for the immigrants themselves. They may be bringing the very same problems to the U.S. that they are fleeing from at home. They are also abandoning their home country, leaving it to decay. Illegal immigration is a lose-lose situation.

Illegal immigration is harmful on the following levels:

• it leads to anarchy and corruption
  


• it promotes a "two class" system in America
  


• it keeps a downward pressure on wages
  


• it puts a strain on limited US services
  


• it gives criminals from foreign countries a safe haven in the US
  


• it allows disease to go unchecked
  


• it dilutes and changes American language and culture
  

Crossing the border illegally is the immigrants first crime. Often, the next crime is forging fraudulent documents, such as social security cards and drivers licenses. I know that if I was caught committing those crimes, I would be charged with perjury and most likely sentenced to serious time in prison. For the most part, illegal aliens get a pass on that. Many of them drive on fraudulent licenses, or licenses that were obtained with fraudulent I.D. Many drive without the benefit of even a phony license. Many illegals file tax returns with fraudulent social security numbers. Many don't pay income tax at all. If I falsified my tax returns, or failed to pay income tax, I would end up in jail. But for the most part, these criminal aliens get a free pass. All of these crimes increase the level of anarchy, corruption and inequality in America. It is a two tear system of anarchy. There is an unwritten law that allows illegal aliens to violate certain laws without serious consequence in exchange for working for low wages. Many so called "sanctuary cities" refuse to enforce immigration laws or question fraudulent documents. Unfortunately, this "two class” system is tearing the American culture, ethics, legal system and economy apart.

When I lived in Los Angeles, many Mexican illegal aliens were cocky and claimed that this part of America was their country, and it was stolen from them by the US. They said that the southwest US really belongs to Mexico. Absolut Vodka even put up ads in Mexico reinforcing this fallacy (click here to see and read more about the Absolut Vodka ad).
The fact is, the U.S. won some of this land in battle, and purchased the rest of land from the Mexican government. When we got the land it was baron, just like much of Mexico is today. We built roads, factories, gasoline refineries, cities, power plants, hospitals, schools, and everything that it takes to support a thriving civilization. Now that we built it up over a period of 10 generations, they think that they have a right to it, and all that has been built upon it. This attitude infuriates me.

Mexico has similar resources that the US has. They have fertile farm ground, two long coasts, petroleum reserves in the ground, natural resources, and over a hundred thirty million citizens for its labor force. Why haven't they built up their own nation? Answer: Their government is corrupt and the country is controlled by lawless drug cartels. They should stay and fix their own country rather than abandoning it and plundering our limited resources. We are suffering as a result of illegal aliens putting a huge burden on our schools, hospitals, police, jails, courts and other public services. At the same time, they are not in their country to help fix Mexico's political problems, and build up their own economy and infrastructure. By leaving they are helping their corrupt government stay in power with little or no opposition.

Mexicans who stay in Mexico consider the “illegal aliens” that emigrate to the US to be traitors to their own country for leaving. By giving Mexicans an easy way out, we are robing them of the opportunity to claim their own country and make it great. If they had no other options, they would surely rise to the occasion and defeat the drug cartels and corruption that is stifling prosperity in their own country. We are doing them a disservice, as well as doing a disservice to ourselves by not strictly enforcing our immigration laws. Strong fences make good neighbors.

Some Mexicans that are sneaking in to our country are criminals that are fleeing the law in Mexico. The corrupt Mexican government is only too happy to let them go, and not be bothered with the destruction caused by their crime, or the cost associated with bringing them to justice and incarcerating them. Many criminal gang members come from South America, through Mexico, and into the US where continue their criminal activities. Mexico tries to stop illegals from entering their country with strict enforcement on Mexico's southern border with Guatemala.

Another negative aspect of illegal immigration is the possibility of disease and epidemic. When my ancestors came through Ellis Island, they were checked for communicable diseases. With hundreds of thousands of illegals entering the US every year unchecked, many diseases enter with them. Measles and tuberculosis were almost eliminated in the US due to vaccine and aggressive testing and treatment. Now these and many other diseases are on the rise in the US due to illegal immigration. The possibility of an epidemic spreading across the US due to illegal immigration is huge.

So many Hispanics are coming to the US legally and illegally, that it is changing our American culture. As many as one million Hispanics are coming to our country annually, half of them illegally. Many are demanding that we speak their language, teach school children in Spanish and even have ballots in Spanish. It is estimated that over ten percent of Mexico's population, now resides in the US. There are about 40 million Hispanics now living in the US. One, out of every 8 people in the US is Hispanic. A majority of them are Spanish speaking. Our language, English, is part of American culture and binds Americans together. This country was founded on the principle of “E Pluribus Unim” which means “out of many, one”. This phrase is so important it is stamped on all US coins. It means that this country was founded by many different cultures and nationalities that “melted” into the common American culture that we know today. If one group comes to America too quickly and in large numbers, they will not assimilate into our common American culture, and the nature of America will change. The U.S. will become more like the failing nations that they fled. Maintaining American culture is vital to our survival and growth. Our unique American culture has led us to become the freest, most prosperous and most powerful nation that the world has ever seen.

We became a great nation by avoiding corruption and enforcing our laws equally for all of our citizens. If we continue to allow illegal immigration, we will watch our country devolve into the same kind anarchy, corruption, poverty and disease, that many illegals were fleeing, when they set off for the US in the first place. We must strictly enforce our immigration laws for the benefit of the U.S. as well as for the benefit of the immigrants themselves.

The Problem with America & Questionnaire

The problem with America is not an economic one, it is a spiritual one. Popular culture celebrates things that are bad, wrong evil and abnormal. They sport satanic symbols, they dress like gangsters and prostitutes, they have disdain for police and military and rich(successful) people and corporations. They mock Christianity and God. They embrace homosexuality, blended families and single moms. They make excuses justifying felons, drug addicts, and homeless bums, illegal aliens and terrorists. The foul language and foul music that is popular among today's youth illustrates their inner attitudes.

Our nation was built on family values and spiritual principles, that are being removed from today's culture in wholesale fashion. Our nation is becoming a house of cards without a foundation. Our economy is propped up by debts that we can-not repay. Hard work, saving and sacrifice, selflessness and humility are not valued by to days popular culture. Instead, popularity, showing off, instant gratification, thrill seeking, and sexuality and happiness have become our new values. I see no way that this next generation can find the courage, strength, selflessness and righteousness to sustain the American way of life and the wealth and liberties we have become accustomed to. Freedom requires restraint. Today, most restraints are considered intolerant, racist, homophobic, sexist, xenophobic or just plain mean.

The following ideas are being made popular in today's public schools, universities, media, and the arts (music, films, TV, etc).

1) Man-made global warming due to CO2 emissions is a proven fact.
2) All war is wrong.
3) The U.S. is an imperialist nation.
4) All foreigners should be allowed to immigrate to the US and become citizens.
5) Racism is a big problem in the U.S.
6) Brutality and racism is a big problem in US police, court and prison systems.
7) Believing in religion is an unreasonable belief.
8) Darwin's theory is more reasonable than creation.
9) The US military is often charged with murderous cruel and evil missions.

11) Sex outside of marriage is normal and healthy.
12) All types of families are equal(single moms, homosexual, blended families, etc.) in that they all lead to equally healthy development, education and success of children coming from these families equally. Thus equally leading to a better future for America.

Obama, the First black President?

I think that race has helped Obama more than hurt him. Many white folks are voting for Obama out of a sense of white guilt or to show everyone how open-minded and progressive that they are. They think that by voting for the first black president that they are proving that they are a good person. Most Obama supporters can not even tell you what his policies are or what his record has been. All they know is that if elected, he will be the first black president.

Obama is a socialist. He wants to tax the wealthy and give to the poor. Just like Karl Marx said ,"from each according to his ability, to each according to his need." This sounds good but it doesn't work because people lose motivation and ambition. Eventually, the class that produces goods and services shrinks, so there is less wealth to go around. As a result, most people become poor and dependent on the Government. Please don't fall for it.

Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed

Lately I have been hearing Ben Stein on numerous interviews on radio and TV. He is very passionate about his views about how the universities and the scientific community are stifling any views that discredit the status quo, as far as Darwin's theory of evolution is concerned. He confirms what I have been saying for a long time now, that universities have a disdain for God and religion.

However, I feel that the universities and the scientific community are also stifling debate and indoctrinating our youth in many other ares as well. Ben Stein never mentions any of these other areas that the universities are indoctrinating our youth.

The public school, universities, the media and the arts are also teaching children many things as fact, that are not proven, and are discouraging or completely stifling debate on many other issues as well. They are teaching them that racism is a major problem in today's America. They are teaching them that diversity is a virtue. They are teaching them that homosexuality is normal and should be embraced, celebrated and even experimented with. They are teaching them that the earth is in peril due to man-made global warming. They are teaching them that our founding fathers were evil. They are teaching them to loathe president Bush. They are teaching them that all war is wrong. They are teaching that illegal immigration is good, and people who oppose it are either hard hearted, uninformed, or racists. They are teaching them that the US is a negative influence in this world. They are teaching them that Christianity is a negative influence, and that God and the bible is a fairy tale.

Debate is discouraged or completely stifled on the above mentioned topics in today's universities. I think it is great that Ben Stein uses the example of Darwinism to illustrate how debate and independent thought is not allowed in today's universities. But there are many other topics as well that our youth are being unwittingly indoctrinated with.

Ben Stein found a topic that was not even on my list and he made an entire documentary about it. If some-one wanted to, they could make a similar documentary about each of the topics that I listed above.

Why is no one discussing this? Why is the free and open discussion of ideas being discouraged in today's universities?

Gang Violence vs. Single Moms

I recently saw a documentary on CNN news about gangs in southern California. This documentary highlighted the hard luck stories and the cycle of violence in this gang infested neighborhood in Los Angeles. It told of various gangsters who were brutally murdered, interviewed others who were currently gang members, a priest who buried 150 slain gangsters from the neighborhood, and offered others a way out through a work program .

There were also numerous interviews with their sobbing mothers. They all blamed poverty, peer pressure, and a history of gangs in their neighborhood and families for the fate of these young men. The documentary was 1 hour long and about twenty percent of it was listening to mothers, sisters and girlfriends sob as they told their stories. Amazingly, every mother portrayed in the story was a “single mom”. Also amazingly no, one ever discussed the possibility that just maybe the reason why so many of these men went down the wrong path was that they had no father in their household to discipline them, set an example for them, direct them or advise them.

Every one in the story was portrayed as a victim, even the priest who had been taken advantage of by some of the men he was helping. No solution was given except, the priest who insisted that he would not give up on these young men and keep giving them another chance to do good. From what I saw in this documentary, these men were already “ruined”. Even with the “kit glove” treatment these violent gangsters were given in the interviews, I could tell that they had no conscience. They rationalized hurting and killing others and selling drugs. Many had already been shot and were proud of it. One talked about enjoying feeling the pain when he was beaten. One said that he hated cops because they could carry guns and get away with it. These gangsters had gang symbols and and other bad things tattooed on their bald heads, foreheads necks, forearms, and hands. The only thing that they seemed to take pride in was how evil they could be and how much pain they could cause and receive.The young men interviewed were clearly psychopaths or very good actors. No doubt that these young men probably harbor a great deal of anger and resentment which is probably justified, but it is precisely that anger and resentment that has caused their psychopathic attitudes and behavior.

I myself do not know the path to unlearn this anger and resentment, but there in lies the key. I believe that the answer is individual and spiritual. Some have found it, I have not.They have an attitude of “you can't do anything to me, I'm prepared to be locked up or killed like most of my friends were. Try to hurt me, I welcome the pain and I will only enjoy my revenge even more”.

There is only one example I can think of in my own life that even comes close to this experience. I had an experience as young boy, away from home for the first time, in a sleep-away camp. I remember being on a hike with my counselor and my bunk mates. I began to misbehave in some way on this hike. I don't know exactly what I was doing but I remember the counselor repeatedly scolding me and telling me to stop. I clearly remember thinking that he wasn't my mother, he couldn't beat me up, therefore he had no power over me and I was free to continue to do what ever I wanted. So,I continued with my bad behavior with a feeling of impunity. Next, my counselor told me that if I didn't behave that I would not be permitted to see the movie on Saturday, I would have to remain in the bunk alone instead. I continued to misbehave and he made good on his threat. He already made up his mind and my crying didn't soften his resolve. I stayed alone in the bunk the next day while the other kids watched the movie. I realized that the counselor did have power over me and for the rest of the summer I knew when to back down. Is it possible that this simple incident had changed my life?? I don't know but I still remember it clearly 40 years later.

That day I learned how to take direction from an authority. I believe that is why it is so important for a child to have a strong father for direction,discipline, guidance and example. A mother is also crucial for love, nurturing, support, understanding even sympathy. It is only from this combination do we have a chance of growing up normal.In this day and age, women are no longer stigmatized for bringing up children alone. To the contrary they are glorified as strong and independent women who struggle to succeed against all odds in bringing up their children while maintaining a household and often by working a full time job, all by themselves. While single mothers do struggle and sacrifice, society as a whole, and their very children in particular, are far better off having a strong loving father in the home.

You can jump up and down and scream at me all you want. You can call me sexist and racist. My answer is simple common sense.Open your eyes. Look around you. The black community has a 70% rate of unwed mothers. The Hispanic community has a 35% rate of unwed mothers and whites are not far behind at 25%. These figures have tripled in the past 40 years. Can you not see the accompanying rise in gang activity, and general disrespect for authority?? Men are commonly used as the scapegoat here. It is said that they walk out on their pregnant girlfriends, do not pay child support, are woman abusers,child abusers or abuse drugs and alcohol. That might be true in many cases, but remember two things. First, those behaviors are much more common in men who grew up without a strong loving father and second, the woman has the ultimate responsibility for getting pregnant in the first place. Blaming the man and glorifying the woman does not change this fact. Any woman who has gotten pregnant without the support of a loving husband has made a huge mistake. Only when strong social pressures are put on women not to make this huge mistake, will society see a decline in single moms. And in this mans opinion that is the only way to reduce gang violence, poverty, crime and misery in America

Why Does Today's Popular Culture Embrace "Symbols of Evil"?

They claim that they are just exercising their right of freedom of expression. But do you see what they are expressing? Usually its something negative or blasphemous. The "scull and crossbones" is the most popular symbol, that symbol represents death or poison. Other popular symbols are devils, fire, serpents, weapons, and chains. The "iron cross" is probably the second most popular symbol and it was used by the Nazis during the second world war. Many try to imitate inner-city gangsters or "pimps", who are notorious for violence, drug abuse and abuse of women

These are mostly symbols of hate, and the lyrics in much of today's music is hateful and intolerant. Yet when I object to these type of symbols, attitude, or music, or foul language, I am the one who is said to be intolerant.

Diversity

Diversity, being called a virtue, is a pet peeve of mine. Of course we all must deal with diversity as best as we can, but it is not a virtue. We should not lower our value system to help someone with a different value system feel included. That is the problem with multiculturalism. Different cultures have different values. If everyone is constantly trying to accept what is unacceptable in their culture, all cultures will meet at the bottom. And that is exactly what is happening in today's popular culture. Spiritual principles, as laid out in the "Ten Commandments" and in Jeudeo-Christian ethics, and a common language, must be the bedrock of our society, if our American culture is to survive.

Cultural diversity is not necessarily a good thing. This country was founded on the principle of "E Pluribus Unum" (out of many, one), which is stamped on all of our coins. Our goal should be American unity, rather than cultural diversity. After all, some cultures are evil or incompatible with our American culture. The USA has proved to be the most benevolent, wealthy and powerful society the world has ever known, but is currently in a state of moral and social decay that is destroying our culture and our nation, right before our very eyes.

Making diversity, in and of itself, a virtue, has lead to the acceptance, celebration and embracing of ideas that are destructive, wrong, abnormal and evil. Universal standards and spiritual principles have been lost or watered down in the process. These standards and principles are what made us great, and when they are removed from the foundation of American culture, we will become weak, poor and controlled, and susceptible to fall prey to those who would do us harm. Anarchy (total freedom without restraint) or totalitarianism (absolute government control) will be the inevitable result, if we as a nation, abandon the spiritual principles of self restraint, self-sacrifice, self-reliance, patience, selflessness, humility, honesty, acceptance, courage, and discipline. These are the universal spiritual principles that has lead the US to become the freest, wealthiest, most powerful nation that the world has ever seen.
