Most of my long and passionate debates with liberals usually wind up at a stand-off after we have both reduced a complicated topic down to its basic core. At this point, further discussion would be useless, we must "agree to disagree" because we are both steadfast in our core beliefs.
As a result of many discussions with liberals, I have identified the following six opposing core beliefs.
1) Liberals tend to trust government more than business.
Conservatives tend to trust business more than government.
2) Liberals believe in collectivism.
Conservatives believe in individualism.
3) Liberals are intolerant of certain beliefs.
Conservatives are judgmental of certain behaviors.
4) Liberals tend to believe in moral relativism.
Conservatives tend to believe in moral absolutes.
5) Liberals believe that society can, and must be, perfected.
Conservatives believe that there will always be a struggle between "good and evil".
6) Liberals tend to be guided more by their emotions.
Conservatives tend to be guided more by reason.

1) is by definition true.
2) and 4) DIRECTLY CONTRADICT.
Individualism is directly related to moral relativism.
Also, guess what? CORPORATIONS=COLLECTIVISM and you're beyond hope if I need to explain that. A corporation is LITERALLY considered a person under U.S. law thanks to incorrect interpretation of the 14th amendment.
3) Liberals are the intolerant ones? Liberals are overtolerant, as you yourself have said.
5) Yes, Liberals do believe this. Constant improvement, instead of reconciling ourselves to defeat sounds good to me.
6) The most bullshit of all ;-). Take a look at the Tea Party. The majority of them have never read the Constitution of the United States. If they want to say a SINGLE word about how the government isn't following the Constitution, READ IT FIRST.
This is way more emotional. Take a look at Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Barack Obama. Are these the people who are making the ridiculous appeals to emotion? The Republicans are called the party of fear for good reason, with Richard Nixon and George W. Bush standing out especially.
